William "Everett" Baker

June 1, 1948 ~ June 7, 2026

William Everett Baker, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Everett was born on June 1, 1948, in Great Falls, South Carolina, the son of William and Anna (Broome) Baker Jr. He was united in marriage to Wanda Sweeney on October 10, 1972, in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Everett served honorably in the United States Navy. He enjoyed attending wrestling matches, fishing with his son, Eric, going to the casino with Wanda, watching scary movies, and spending time at the VFW Post 788 visiting with friends. Everett took great pride in his Pawpaw duties., including playing the crispy french fry game. He loved his grandchildren very much.

Everett is survived by his wife, Wanda Baker; daughter, Cheryl (Travis) Mastin; daughter-in-law, Jodie Baker; grandchildren, Ashton Appleby, Brenden (Lexi) Baker, Kyleigh Baker, Dalton Mastin, Colten (Britney) Mastin; and great-grandsons, Beau Mastin and Banks Baker.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, son, Eric Baker; and brother, Rick Baker.

  1. Thoughts and prayers are with the family. Everett was such an amazing man and so sweet, even when he was being ornery. One of my favorite people in life. Rest in peace sir.

  2. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Wanda and family on Everette’s passing. I’ve known Evertte for 50 plus years from working at Link-Belt Speeder and at the VFW post 788. Enjoyed his friendship. Thank you for his dedicated Navy service to the USA!
