Troy Thomas McGrath, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Troy's family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Troy was born on May 27, 1963, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Chester McGrath and Eunice (Manemann) McGrath. He grew up in Dubuque, where he attended Dubuque Senior High School. After that, Troy ventured to Texas for employment. Eventually he made his way to the Tacoma, Washington area where he worked as a lumberjack for Weyerhaeuser. He finished his working career as a truck driver and retired in Cedar Rapids.
Troy enjoyed exploring the state of Washington, fishing, and watching football.
Troy is survived by his parents; sisters, Tami (Allan) Pierson, and Tania (George) Aboud of Cedar Rapids, and Marymichael McGrath of Austin, Texas; many nieces, and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paris McGrath Capulet.
