Sharon Erickson

Sharon Lee Erickson, 87, of Ely, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, Iowa. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, Isle Evangelical Free Church, Isle, Minnesota, with a visitation held one hour prior to service. A luncheon will follow the service. Private family burial will be at Opstead Baptist Cemetery.

Sharon was born on August 25, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Rachel (Stark) VanAlst. She was united in marriage to Eugene Erickson on September 7, 1957, in Isle, Minnesota.

Gene and Sharon lived in Ely for many years. In 1975, they moved back to Minnesota where they bought a farm north of Isle, where Sharon lived for 46 years. Sharon also worked at Martec Electronics in Onamia for many years before retiring.

Sharon was active in her church. She was very proud of the sales she helped to raise money for her sister church in Ukraine, where she was able to visit and worship. Sharon enjoyed reading, puzzle books, old country music, and showing off pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to friends.

Sharon is survived by her children, Linda (Pat) Moses and Steven (Lynn) Erickson; grandchildren, Patricia (Mike) Jones and Matthew (Mollie) Moses; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Larry VanAlst, Mavis Weber, and Donald VanAlst.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Sandy Graham; and sisters, Connie VanAlst, and Doris Olsen
