Nyle Workman

Nyle Workman, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Mount Vernon, Iowa, on August 9, 2026. Nyle was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on October 7, 1938, to Sam and Jennie Rundall Workman. Nyle resided in Mount Vernon the past 12 years, but lived the majority of his life at his family home in Springville, Iowa.
Nyle graduated from Springville High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Wentworth Military Academy in 1958. Shortly after, he met and married the girl who captured his heart, Beverly Stoeffler Workman. They shared 61 years together in marriage before Beverly’s passing.
Nyle worked for Collins Radio/Rockwell for over 35 years prior to retiring. Upon which time he and Bev spent many of their retirement years wintering in Texas. Spending many hours on the golf course and enjoying many good times with cherished friends.
Nyle enjoyed the simple pleasures throughout his life. He loved fishing, golfing, evening drives for ice cream and especially his time spent with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes, Mount Vernon Mustangs and the Cornell College Rams. Nyle also loved settling in to watch a good old Western or war movie.
Nyle will be remembered for his love of family, his quick wit, and his love of having a good time with family and friends. We will cherish and hold close the many memories shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; and his sister, Donna “Jo” Workman.
Nyle is survived by his three children, Mark (Susan) Workman, Scott Workman, and Ann (Brent) Brase; and his grandchildren, Seth and Sam Workman, Trent Workman, and Ella, Owen (Morgan Roelfs), Evan, and Nora Brase.
Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, Iowa.
A general memorial fund has been established with the family.

We had such great times either Nyle and Bev down here in south Texas. The memories with them will always be with us
I worked with Bev at Springville Schools back in 1970’s — she the school nurse and I the young home economics teachers. She was a joy to work with and know. Then in more recent years I delivered Meals on Wheels periodically to Nile — He was a joy to visit briefly and always such a positive person. I know you all have greaat memories of both your mother and father. My prayers are with you during this time of loss — may our great God be you strength, comfort and peace in the days/weeks ahead.

Springville, we were all lucky enough to have friends like all of the Workmans! Nyle & Bev were always positive, kind and supportive in everything they did. Sympathies go out to Mark, Scott and Ann.

Nyle, Bev, Mark, Scott, and Ann were a huge part of our family friends forever! My parents, Ronnie and Rita were best friends with Nyle and Bev. Dad and Nyle graduated together and spent many parties, vacations, card games and golfing together., as did us kids. Thank you for visiting Dad so often Nyle! Now you are all in heaven together. We love you all.
