Normandy, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026. There will be no formal services. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her daughters, Christina (David) Greenberg and Alana Vavra; two grandchildren, Forrest Greenberg and Logan Greenberg; siblings, Jon Daringer, Steve Daringer, and Donna Smith; and the love of her life and longtime companion, Mike Haddy.
Normandy was born on July 25, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Norman and Patricia (Myers) Daringer. She graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Throughout her career, she served as a compassionate nurse in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home health care.
While she deeply loved her work in nursing, her true passion was music. Known for her beautiful voice and lively tambourine playing, she performed with local bands, including Aftershock. For more than 30 years, she and Mike owned and operated Gray Wolf Karaoke, bringing joy and entertainment to audiences across the area.
Normandy had a deep love for animals and was the quintessential neighborhood “cat lady.” She also enjoyed sci-fi movies, trying her luck at the slot machines, and traveling the world. Among her favorite destinations were Prague, Germany, and Ireland.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

We Are Forever Friends 🎶
Even though I didn’t know you for very long, we became Facebook friends and then I met you. You were always smiling and very friendly. When you went on your International Trips, you always brought back stuff for your friends. I will always treasure that necklace that you gave me. Rest easy my Dear friend. Until we meet again.
You will forever be missed. You brought me out of my shell with my first real karaoke song; love potion #9. You sang like an angel I will forever here your voice. Love you Norm ….. NurseJenn
What a kind and generous soul! I’ve known Normandy for about 30 years. She has always been very outgoing, approachable and ready to make new friends. She showed genuine interest and concern for people. She welcomed me to her circle of friends and invited me to family get-togethers. I even took a few trips with her and Mike to Colorado. She always the life of the party at karaoke shows. Always willing to break out the tambourine and add rhythm and harmony to songs. She truly will be missed. Thank you for touching our lives and leaving us with wonderful memories. God bless you sister!
I have been friends with Norma since childhood, as she lived close by. She was a kind and empathetic gal, her heart being to big for her body. She sent me a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt from Portugal knowing I collected them, I will always treasure that one especially. I will miss my beautiful friend always and thank you to Michael for making sure she always felt special. Rest in peace my friend.
