Nancy Domer

July 1, 1937 ~ December 9, 2025

Nancy Darlene Domer, 88, of Marion, Iowa, went peacefully to her heavenly father on December 9, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 715 38th Street. SE Cedar Rapids, led by Rev. Dennis Morey. Burial: 1:00 p.m., Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services is assisting the family.

Nancy was born on July 1, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of E. J. and Marguerite Scott. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1955. She married George Domer on September 17, 1955. Nancy was a bookkeeper for many years at Petroleum Equipment and Services and was very active in church activities, including the choir, bell choir, quilting club and with George led the youth group for many years. She also was a member of the Marion Sunrise Kiwanis Club for decades.

Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to Cheyenne at least two times a year to visit her grandchildren. She and George loved taking mission trips with their church family. She was also an accomplished seamstress and loved to make clothes for her children, grandchildren and even their dolls.

After George’s passing Nancy joined daughter Jill in Bahrain where they spent the worst Covid months hunkered down in the warm winter until coming back to Iowa in July 2020.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Jim) Purvis and Jill Laping; as well as her grandchildren, Sarah (Spencer) Laping Garland, Lindsay Laping (Logan), and Alyssa Laping; and three great-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, E.J. and Marguerite Scott; her sister, Jacqueline Steiner and her husband, George.

  1. It was my pleasure to attend Nancy for the last year and a half. Nany could be exacting; but, she also had a great sense of humor. She lived a long life full of accomplishment. One of her greatest was her daughter, Jill. I will miss seeing both of you. Rest in peace, Nancy & Go find adventure, Jill!
