IUP Labor Union
To the Maddigan family – I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.
During my years as secretary for the IUP labor union I worked with Mike on newsletters, local correspondance, etc. He was always a very fair person to have as a supervisor – friendly and easy-going with a dry sense of humor. When I left employment with IUP he was a reference for me and I soon found another job thanks to him being willing to put in a good word for me, along with other supervisors in the Des Moines IUP office. He was a great person to work for.
We also share a love of books and we would talk about good books to read.
I was sorry to read of his passing and my thoughts are with you all.
Sincerely, Lu Patterson-Sisco
This Industrious Dullard was a community asset. His contribution to the book trade will be missed.
We extend our sympathy to each and every one of you Maddigans at the loss of your brother, Mike.
I was told a story a short time ago by another Oelwein Irishman, that Bob and Mose checked on him and caught him not observing St. Patrick’s day at 10 a.m. one year. He never forgot their lesson. Remembering your Family faondly, With warmest regards, Ruth and Gary Lau
