I am going to miss our chats and visits we had…One memory that I will never forget is when Aunt Kay asked me if I could send some pictures to her..So I made her a book and sent it to her….i talked to her about a month later and asked her if she got her book, she said no she made the comment that she hadn’t checked her mailbox in a month….we both sat and laughed about…

Kay Frances West, 90 of Robins, Iowa, passed away on September 23,2026. The family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. There are no services planned at this time. Inurnment will be held later at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
Kay was born on October 20, 1935, Eldorado, Iowa, daughter of Millard and Mathilda (Meyer) Knapp. She graduated from high school and was united in marriage to Leonard West on January 18, 1958, in West Union, Iowa. Kay dedicated 40 years of service as Linn County Deputy Assessor before retiring,
Together Again! Mom and Dad are waltzing through heaven! They loved to dance and we loved watching them! Kay found great joy in the time she spent with her husband, Leonard. Together, they enjoyed traveling and fishing and making many wonderful memories along the way. Kay was devoted to her faith and her family. She also enjoyed watching sports, doing puzzles and going to the casino.
Kay is survived by her children, Shelley (Dr. Joel) Sardzinski, Mark West and Cameron West; grandchildren, Josh West, Alexis West Technik (Joe), Dr. Logan Sardzinski and Dr. Brittany (Kyle) Sardzinski Mortensen; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; and siblings, Larry (Carol) Knapp and Pat (Larry) Maxson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard West; and siblings, Merrill (Nancy) Knapp and LaVerle (Darrell) Dake.
