Gerry Phelps Burkart

Gerry Phelps Burkart, 83, of 877 15th Avenue, Marion, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, following a brain hemorrhage. Her body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will held at a later date at Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, Iowa. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion. There are no immediate survivors. Gerry was born August 1, 1925, in Grinnell, Iowa. She married George Burkart on January 13, 1964, in Bayside, New York. The couple moved to Marion in 1966. Gerry was an Eastern Airlines employee in Chicago and New York from 1945 to 1965 and was employed at Rockwell Collins from 1973 until retiring in 1986. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1989.
