Evia O. Polhamus Crawford, 73 of Marion, formerly of Mechanicsville and Lisbon, died Friday December 18, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from Pancreatic Cancer. Evia's funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m., until service time Tuesday, at the chapel. Internment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Evia is survived by her son Matthew and wife Lorraine Polhamus, Mechanicsville, six grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Bauer, Dubuque, Ryan Steinberg and fianc Chelsey Havill, Joel Polhamus and significant other Heather Palmer, both of Mechanicsville, Justin Polhamus, Wayne, Nebraska, Paige (Paul) Keating, Monkstown, Ireland, and Blair (Derek) Meeks, Des Moines, three great-grandsons, Robbie, Randy, and Ricky Bauer. She is also survived by brothers, Homer (Millie) Crawford, Nolen (Peggy) Crawford, both of Rockford, Illinois, and Dale (Elaine) Crawford, Texas. Preceding Evia in death were three sisters, Mona, Marcella "Marcie", and Lois, one brother Maeford "Mac", one granddaughter Marrissa Polhamus, her parents, James and Callie Purdue Crawford, and her favorite squirrel Sicky. Evia was born July 12, 1936, in Bragg City, Missouri. Evia was formerly married to Kermit Polhamus. She retired from Wilson Foods upon its closing and was a member of Food Workers Union Local P3. She owned the South Side Tap, Lisbon and the Cedar Valley Inn, for ten years, at Cedar Valley, Iowa. Evia's life was her family, food, fishing, and animal watching.
