Deiago "Buckjilla" Davis, 44, of Cedar Rapids, died August 22, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial following service at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 17, 1974, to Gloria Ann Davis, Deiago was always busy with fixing little things. He was good with his hands'no matter what, he'd fix it somehow. Like MacGyver, he rigged up all sorts of gadgets. Carpentry, auto mechanics, computers, the man was a genius. Deiago was a pretty good cook and an avid basketball player. He was very wise, smart, and strong-headed, and he loved his brothers and sister very much.
Deiago attended Robert Morris College majoring in Accounting. He put his talents to work as a forklift operator, carpenter, then maintenance engineer, most recently at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, where he has worked for the last seven years.
Survivors include his children, Shakela Davis and Savion Barnes; siblings, Diago Davis, Dyaroll (Hillary Abram) Davis, Geneva Jones, and Eugene Davis; aunt, Stella Davis, and many uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Trisha Pledge, Edith Kendall, Tonya Dixon, LaShawn Hicks, and David Kemp. He was preceded in death by his life partner, Chante Barnes; mother, Gloria Davis; daughter's mother, LaKeisha Gildersleeve; grandmother, Phyllis Davis; uncle, Darnell Davis; nephews, Deandre and Antonio Hicks; and cousin, David Davis.
