Dawn Ruedy

July 8, 1974 ~ May 4, 2026

Dawn Ruedy, 51, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on May 4, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by loving family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.

Dawn was born on July 8, 1974, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to her father, Michael Ruedy. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School, continued her education at Capri College, and later earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from Mount Mercy College. Dawn spent over 20 years as a cosmetologist, a career that let her connect with people in a way that came naturally to her. Most recently, she worked at Ameriprise Financial as a Senior Resolution Specialist.

Dawn was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. She was beautiful in every sense—bold, thoughtful, spunky, and just the right amount of feisty (truly “hell on wheels”). She may have been tiny, but she was very mighty. Cancer was a battle she faced more than once, and each time she met it head-on, refusing to let it define how she lived. She lived fully, fiercely, and on her own terms.

She had a smile that people will never forget and a heart that gave generously. Dawn proudly supported organizations such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Light the Night, and Especially For You. She loved going to concerts—especially hair bands—and could always be counted on to enjoy a good Sunday Funday watching football.

Dawn is survived by her children, Alexandria Ruedy and Annie Wedo; grandchildren, Kingston, Lucy, Presley, Bowie, and Dash; siblings, Michelle Ruedy, James Stites, and Jason Ruedy; nephew, Parker Ruedy; stepmother, Maryellen; and her best friend in the world, Stacie Reed. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Ruedy.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Here’s a softer, more natural rewrite with the same sentiment:

Your friendship was such a special part of my life. Although it’s been quite some time since we last saw each other, I will always hold close the laughter, tears, and memories we shared through both the happy moments and the hard times. Thank you for the kindness, love, craziness, and joy you brought not only to my life, but to so many others. You will be missed my friend.

    • Oh where do I begin. We had so many memories together fun and sad. I will always cherish and hold those close to my heart. All though we have not seen each other in person for some years we always stayed in contact through social media. You are so loved by many and will be missed my friend. ❤️
