David L. 'David' Carlson, 66, of Coggon, died Wedesday, September 9, 2009, in Rochester, Minnesota, following an extended illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009, at the United Parish Church, Coggon, by Pastor Jennifer Filter. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Survivors include his wife, Linda; two sons, Tim (Ann) of Atkins, and Doug (Nicole) of Coggon; a daughter, Becky Kane (fianc��, Terry) of Coggon; a brother, Edd (Peggy) Carlson of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Vellie (Larry) Goodman of Millersburg, Cindy (Steve) Holub of Rochester, Minnesota, LuAnn (Pat) Benesch of Walker, and Sara (Bryan) Doyl of Walker; and his mother, Elizabeth 'Betty' Carlson of Walker. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and his special friend, 'Abby'. Dave was born March 5, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edd and Betty Carlson. He married Linda K. LeClere on February 22, 1964, in Coggon. She was his great love and soul mate for 45 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing in his pond, riding his Harley, cook-outs with family and friends, hunting, metal fabrication, muscle cars, and Nascar. Dave cherished and valued his family and many friends. He also liked to listen to Waylon Jennings. Memorials may be made to Gift of Life.
