Clara Mae Pospisil (Meroshek), 102, died on October 9, 2026, at her residence, Keystone Cedars in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Clara was born in rural Marion, Iowa, to parents Mary Vanous Meroshek and Frank Meroshek, and grew up with brothers, Charles, William, and Frank Meroshek; and one sister, Rose Meroshek Pospisil.
As a teenager, and through the Great Depression, Clara and family moved to a small farm just north of Mount Vernon, Iowa. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1942 and later married her classmate Robert Pospisil in 1947. Robert and Clara enjoyed numerous trips to Mesa, Arizona, and the Florida Keys along with fishing trips with family and friends. A special thank you to Keystones Cedars for their exceptional care over the last six years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pospisil; daughter, Rita McGinnis; and daughter-in-law, Debra Pospisil. She is survived by her children, Diane (Brad) Henry, Doug Pospisil, widower, John McGinnis, Ed Pospisil, and partner Linda Moothart; grandchildren, Carrie, Kate, John, Laura, Nick, Allison, and Hilary; and eight great-grandchildren.
