Caroline G. Berry Stewart, 80 of Lisbon, died Tuesday January 8, 2008 in the Anamosa Care Center, from a brief illness. Funeral services 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the chapel. Burial St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon. Caroline is survived by her husband Don of Mount Vernon, a daughter Gwen (Gary) Drahos, a son Dennis (Barb) of Watkins, and a daughter Linette (Leo) Geissler of Lisbon, a brother Osmond (Barb) Berry of Ely, five grandchildren: Korey, Jodi, Carrie, Aaron, and Amanda, a five great grandchildren: Jozef, Kaylin, Montana, Indiana, and William. Preceding Caroline in death are her parents, two sisters: Catherine Barnhart and Charlotte Reinheimer. Caroline was born July 1, 1927 at Bertram, the daughter of Osmond and Florence McGowan Berry. She graduated from McKinley High School, Cedar Rapids in 1944. She worked seven years for Dr. Foster, an orthodontist, as his receptionist. She married Donald H. Stewart June 1948 at Bertram. Caroline worked four years for Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation Center at Mount Vernon, and was a baker at Gwen's Restaurant in Lisbon. Caroline was a member of the Bertram United Methodist Church, was a 4-H leader and belonged to the Happy Homemakers Club. Caroline was "mighty proud of her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids." A memorial fund in Caroline's honor has been established.
