Robert J. Pospisil, 78 of Mount Vernon, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids due to complications from surgery. Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., Monday, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon, by the Reverend David Ambrosy. Friends may call Sunday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, where the Christian Wake service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon. Surviving Robert are his wife Clara; his children: Diane (Brad) Henry of Minneapolis, Doug (Debra) Pospisil of Ames, Rita (John) McGinnis of Des Moines, and Ed (Victoria) Pospisil of Mount Vernon; and seven grand children. Also surviving are: four sisters: Eleanore Biderman of Upper Palisades, Mary (Richard) Russell, Betty (John) Wolfe all of Mount Vernon, and Helen (Ray) Bader of Casper, Wyoming; one brother Paul (Leota) Pospisil; and a sister-in-law Rose Pospisil both of Mount Vernon. Preceding Robert in death were his parents; two sisters: Agnes Biderman and Stella Mallie; two brothers: Phillip and Joseph "Bub". Robert was born March 27, 1925 in rural Mount Vernon, the son of Joseph F. and Mary Drahos Pospisil. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1942, and married Clara Meroshek on October 14, 1947 in Lisbon. Robert loved the land and farmed all his life on the family farm. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. His woodworking craftsmanship is well known among his family and friends.
