Sewania 'Sue' Stokes, 42, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 26, 2024. A Celebration of Life is being held from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Corner Pocket, 609 2nd Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. The family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Sewania Tanika was born to Antoinette (Stokes) Vassar and Jihad, on January 30, 1982 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She worked many places in the healthcare industry caring for people and making friends.
She was a bubbly person who loved to dance. Her beautiful smile lightened up the room. She loved her brother, and the kids all knew her as 'Master Sue'. Sewania liked looking good, doing her nails, and taking pictures. Most of all, Pink Sue loved to party.
Sue is survived by her mother, Antoinette; brother, LaMario (Jaimie); children, Tony, Dezire, and LaMario; aunt, Stephanie; uncle, Ray; best friends/sisters, Santonia, Dallas, Terriana, LaShaunda, and Maleka; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Jihad; step-father, Edwin; grandparents; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A couple years ago.on the 4th of July I was walking past these apartment that’s had a outside bar downtown stairs and all I hear is shannnoonnnim looking and looking there she was tall drink in her hand hair slayed lips glossy and her beautiful smile we engaged in the biggest hug I’ve known sue for years but this memory will always be with me out of a crowd of people she seen me Rest Easy Sue I’ll see you again one day
I’m going to miss you knowing I hate when I saw you and we hugged you always grabbing my lips saying those are juicy lol we just had talked and I gave you a ride rest up Sue I will keep our memories going
I remember the good times that we had as friends. I met you when you were going with my cousin Maurice back in the days I got you a place to stay in that I helped you out with when you needed help. I was always there for you when you need a friend. I will always love you, Sue Rest up my friend till I see you again Nell❤️❤️

I knew “Sue” from the center and to say she was a friend is an understatement… She was funny, smart, and loved big! RIH love!
I’m struggling to believe this is real…I will always remember the fun we used to have from back on 5th and 6th Ave when we were young and from then on out. No matter where we bumped back into each other at it was always good times!!! YOU WILL FOREVER BE MISSED
