Your Loved One Never Leaves The Care of a Funeral Director

Our crematory partner employs licensed funeral directors to operate the crematory. This ensures your loved one is treated with the utmost care, dignity, and respect throughout the process.

Safeguarding Personal Identity

To ensure security, and eliminate the possibility of any error, Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services will place a personal identification band on your loved one upon arrival at the funeral home.

Unique Tracking System

Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services employs a meticulous tracking system that assigns a unique identification number to every individual entrusted to their care. This number is on an identification disc and is used to monitor every stage of the cremation process. Personal belongings are carefully documented and stored in a secure area for safekeeping until they are returned to the family.

Family Identification

Our staff will prepare and dress your loved one in the clothes provided by the family or a gown we provide. Then in accordance with Iowa code, we will ask you, or a representative, to positively identify them prior to cremation in the casket or cremation container of your choice.

Our Cremation Process

Our high standards require the certified crematory operators to review all cremation paperwork prior to cremation. This is to ensure authorizations and permits have been received and have been properly documented. Once all documentation is verified, the crematory operators will begin the cremation process.

We record the name of your loved one, the date and time of the cremation, identification number, crematory operator’s name, as well as additional information regarding the cremation. Our crematory log is dated and the start time is noted and initialed by our certified crematory operator before and after the cremation.

The crematory documents and identification disc are placed on the outside of the cremation chamber during the cremation process.

After The Cremation

After the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are placed with the identification disc into an urn. Each urn or container is also labeled with the name of the decedent, date of death, date of cremation, and cremation identification number. You will be presented with an official Certificate of Cremation when you receive the cremated remains that guarantees all the above steps have been followed.
