Timothy James 'Diesel' Maddigan, life-long resident of Oelwein, and more recently of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday July 15, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center. A Celebration of Life for 'Diesel' will be held at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services of Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Survivors include siblings, Jack (Barb) Davidson, Colleen Johnson, Maureen Maddigan, Kevin Maddigan, Kathy Maddigan, Eileen (Daniel) Latimer, Mary 'Rose' (Pat) Bresnehan; numerous nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; and a host of friends.
Timothy James 'Diesel' was born February 24, 1947 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of Robert and Margaret McSwiggin's Maddigan. He grew up in Oelwein where he attended school and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1966. 'Diesel' attended NIACC in Mason City for a time. 'Diesel' began his long career as a Bartender in Oelwein. He was employed by the Idle Hour Tap, followed by stints at Tom's Tap, Bob-O-Link's Lounge and Clete and Connie's. 'Diesel' moved to Cedar Rapids to be closer to his sister, Kathy.
'Diesel' is preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers: Pat, Tom, Terry 'Joe', Kelly, and Mike.

Tim was a unique individual. Smart with a great sense of humor. As I recall, he could hold his own in a dust-up as well. Our paths crossed as I also bartended in the “Idle Hour” for a bit. Sympathy to the family, he will be missed. Paul felix, a former Oelwein resident.
