Timothy Hotz

October 7, 1967 ~ November 11, 2025

Timothy Albert Hotz, 58, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., both at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services of Cedar Rapids. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, officiated by Reverend Roger Dykstra.

Tim was born on October 7, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Albert and Della Delois (Haneline) Hotz. He graduated from Washington High School in 1986 with plans to attend college and pursue a career as a music producer. Instead, Tim chose to remain in Cedar Rapids to care for his family – one of many selfless decisions that would come to define his life.

For 32 years, Tim worked tirelessly at the Cedar Rapids Country Club as a dishwasher, giving everything he had to support the team and ensure operations ran smoothly day in and day out. His dedication was unwavering, and his familiarity with every corner of the Club was unmatched. Tim lived his life with purpose and genuine devotion to those he loved and to his work. If someone was in need, he was always there to help – with a quick nod of his head, he seemed to know exactly what needed to be done. Whether it was lending a hand to a needed task or tracking down a rare CD that no one else could find, Tim was always there for his family.

Outside of work, Tim was an avid collector of vinyl records and CDs. There was always music to be played, enjoyed, and studied. He cared deeply for those around him, and that care was evident in the commitment and kindness he brought to every aspect of his life.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law; his CRCC family at the Cedar Rapids Country Club; his chosen brother, George Madlon; and his chosen nieces, Montana and Skilar Madlon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Penny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Foundation 2 Crisis Center of Cedar Rapids in memory of Tim.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Cedar Rapids Country Club lost a dedicated and loyal employee – a good person – when Tim passed away. He will be missed and remembered. My regret is that I did not tell him thank you as often as the opportunity presented itself.

  2. My wife and I have seen Tim’s hard work and determination at CRCC for all those years. We will miss seeing him.

  3. Tim was just a great guy. I’m thankful that God allows our lives cross paths. I’ll always remember Tim from years of going to school together, and bowling with him in youth bowling on team Pizza Hut. As years went by I’d see Tim periodically at different times and places, I’m gonna greatly miss not seeing him around. But I do know Gods promise, and we will see him again someday.

  4. I met Tim in 2022 when my brother Steve Jennings died. He and Tim were good friends and Tim reached out to me several times after this to see if I was doing ok, despite the fact that we really didn’t know each other. I am so sad that he died and wanted to express my condolences. What a great guy!

  5. I worked at CRCC back in 2011-2013 or so and it was my first ever job. In the rush of big events, I would get frazzled but Tim always had my back. If I came in begging for more forks because we were out, he would be our hero! He was tireless, dependable, and would always help make me feel less like the sky was falling! He was a steady force and had a really good heart. I wish I was still local so I could attend the service

  6. I am so sorry that we lost touch over the years.Tim was a very kind cousin and tried to keep us involved with each other. Thank goodness for his adoptive family and friends. Go in peace and join our family members that have passed before us they wait with open arms to embrace you with love.

  7. I worked with Tim for many years ar CRCC. He was a dedicated hard worker always willing to jump in and help when needed. He kept in contact with me after I left around 2008. He would call just to see how I was doing. I will miss Tim. Was shocked when I was randomly looking at obituaries to see this. R.I.P. . Tim
