Shirley Folken
August 22, 1943 ~ March 11, 2017
Shirley Ann Folken, 73, of Springville, Iowa, died Saturday, March 11, 2017, in hospice at Jones Regional Medical Center. There are no public services; a private family committal will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Born August 22, 1943, the first child of Hubert and June (Bishop) Walker, Shirley loved cooking, flowers, birds, and especially her family. She married John Folken on November 8, 1974.
She is survived by her husband; children, Brandy and Adam; granddaughter, Gracey; mother; brother, Terry (Doris); sisters, Bev, Debbie (Ed) Lathrop, and Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father; and brother-in-law, Rollie Steiner.

I am very saddened to hear of Shirley’s passing. Her ongoing friendship for all these years are a great memory for me to have to hold on to. We initially met at Iowaman. Every Friday our group had lunch at the Tic Toc and not only shared lunch but much laughter. She always brought much joy to the table. After retirement, our chance meetings at Walmart ended up being a two hour conversation before we decided we needed to check out 🙂 Putting her exchange ornaments on my tree this year will be extra special. My condolences to John and the family. Rest in Peace, my friend.
