Sharon Louise Banasik, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, April 27, 2023, finally at peace. Private Family Services will be held at a later date. The family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Orville; children, Kevin James (Nicole) Banasik, and Megan Nicole (Jeremy) Potts; and granddaughter, Owen James Potts.
Sharon Louise Baker was born December 26, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Melvin Earl and Bertha Jean Baker. She graduated from AIC College and went to work as an insurance secretary where she met her love, Orville James Banasik. On April 12, 1980, they were married. Sharon worked at Welch-Donovan Insurance, Millhiser-Smith Insurance, Farm Bureau Insurance, Farm Bureau Claims, and Electric Specialty Manufacturing Company before she rested to focus on family.
Being a mom meant the world to Sharon. She was devoted to her children and family, attending large family reunions regularly. She enjoyed reading and shared this passion through passing along books to others. Another favorite pastime was her cross-stitch.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children, Eva Marie, and Sarah Jean; and brother, Gary Baker.
