Ruth V. Flynn

Ruth V. Becker Flynn 88, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services for Ruth will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choice Mount Vernon Chapel by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Ruth's visitation and viewing will be Monday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the chapel. Ruth will be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Surviving Ruth is her son Marlin (Barbara), Mechanicsville; 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, Edward and Kate Becker, husband Edward, son Terry, a sister, four brothers, and a grandson Craig Flynn. Ruth was born June 4, 1921, in Deer Creek, Minnesota. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School and married Edward Flynn, November 9, 1940 at Iowa City. Ed died 1998. Ruth was co-owner and bookkeeper for Flynn Motor Service, Mount Vernon for twenty years, retiring in 1979. Ruth loved the outdoors, especially working in the flowers and fishing. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of her life.
