Ronald Fontenot

April 14, 1954 ~ October 19, 2018

Ronald Fontenot went to his eternal reward on the 19th of October, 2018. Visitation: 4 -7 p.m. on Tuesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. A private family Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Ron was born April 14, 1954, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, the son of Kirby and Vernice Fontenot. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist at St. Luke's Hospital from 1990 until 2002. Ron loved his grandkids, Cajun cooking, gardening, collecting coins, fishing with his children and Iowa Hawkeye football. Above all he loved sitting, listening, and sharing stories with anyone who wanted to take the time. Ron took care of others in this way and will be missed. Ron is survived by his brother, Jimmy (Gwen) Fontenot; son, Seth, (Anna) and their children, Rory, and Renee Fontenot; son, Tate (Kari) and their dog, Sydney Fontenot; son, Jacob (Monique) and their children, Gabrielle, Andrew, Amelia, Sophia, Genevieve; and his friends, Don Katun, John Pisarik, and the St. Luke's RT team. Ron joins his mother, father, and his beloved dog, Oscar in eternity. Rest in peace. Memorials are suggested to the Medical Lending Closet at Grace Episcopal Church, 525 A Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401

  1. Ron lived next door to my daughter, Margaret Conant., in Marion. Ron was a caring person who looked out for my daughter. I won’t forget that about him. May God bless Ron.
