Ronald Ray Juett, 72, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he held dearest on Monday, December 2, 2013 in UnityPoint Health St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a very brief battle with lung cancer. The family will greet friends Tuesday, December 10, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Morgan Funeral Choices in Mount Vernon, with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following, with celebrant Mary Morgan. Private family burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery, once the weather warms up, since Ron despised the cold of winter. Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy, three children: Julie Juett, Lisbon, Jeff (Chris), Mount Vernon, and Joel, Belle Plaine, five grandchildren: Jonathon, Justin, Jeremy, Jordan, and Jacqueline. Ron is also survived by a sister Sue (Dale) O'Brine, Cedar Rapids, and a brother Randall (June) of Marion. Ron is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding Ron in death were his parents, daughter Lisa, two brothers, Bob and Darrell, and a sister Jean Graver. Ron was born December 10, 1940, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Robert and Madge Webster Juett. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1958 and attended the University of Iowa. Ron married Nancy Maltas, on October 20, 1962, in Lisbon, Iowa. Ron worked at FMC as a welder, until he was drafted into the US Army, being discharged in 1968. He returned to work with FMC until its closing in 1986. Ron started a small welding shop after FMC closed its doors in Cedar Rapids, and worked a number of other temporary jobs until taking a position at Sheller Globe in Iowa City, as a maintenance mechanic; retiring in January 2006. Finding retired life not to his liking, he took a part time job on the custodial staff at Lisbon Community Schools, until his passing. Ron found great joy in seeing the children at school grow and mature, and found himself with many surrogate grandchildren. When not working, Ron found enjoyment in bowling, fishing with his wife, reading, keeping his mind busy with crossword puzzles, listening to music, especially jazz and blues, and being with his family. Ron also enjoyed growing his hair and donating it to Locks of Love. Ron's generosity continues by giving the gift of sight through the donation of his corneas to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Hills Bank and Trust, 103 West Main Street, Lisbon, Iowa 52253, in Ron's memory. On line condolences: morganfuneralchoices.com

I was so saddened when I read of Ron’s passing. I had the pleasure of conversing with Ron while he helped participate in his Grandson Jordan’s Cub and Boy scout careers. Ron was often around helping out where he could. he will be dearly missed.
