Roland Zimmerman

December 17, 1939 ~ October 30, 2021

Roland Eugene Zimmerman, 81, of rural Tipton, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Roland was born on December 17, 1939, to Carl and Neva (Oliver) Zimmerman, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Donna Sander, on August 23, 1964. They raised four children: Janel (Kirk) Wenndt, Rodney (Michelle) Zimmerman, Tanya (Ben) Sterner and Carey King. He worked as a laborer at Land O' Lakes in Clarence, and as a security guard at CDS in Tipton, before retiring. Roland could make friends with anyone. He had a warm heart and a great amount of compassion. He and Donna would provide a sanctuary for all who needed it (animal or human). They will always be remembered for their kindness and generosity. Tool Time at Ditto's Restaurant in Stanwood was a highlight each week, along with weekly Bible Study with his special neighbors and honorary family members, Wayne and Jo Brown. He is survived by his four children; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and his sisters, Wanona West, Marianne Valliere, Linda Zimmerman, Bonnie (Arlen) Breiholz and Carolyn Cumberlin. Preceding him in death were his wife, Donna; parents; brothers, Carl Jr., and Jerry; and sister Betty Gunder. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Red Oak Church, 751 King Avenue, Tipton. His family will be present to welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Sending prayers and hugs across the miles to all of my cousins and family. He was a wonderful man who will be missed.
