Robert Baker

Robert "Bert" Baker, 37, of Cedar Rapids was welcomed to into the House of the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021. His passing was unexpected. A Celebration of Life will pay tribute to him on Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 1-3 pm at the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club, 1735 11th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This event is open to the public. Robert was born in Branson, Missouri, on November 8, 1983. He is the son of Daniel Baker of Kansas City, Missouri and Cindy Callahan of Cedar Rapids. He attended high school in Flagstaff, Arizona. Following school, he learned the culinary arts from his father and worked many years in the food service industry as a chef. Cooking became lifelong passion of this very talented young man. He was also known for his deep devotion to his family and friends, all of whom loved him dearly. Additionally, he was a loyal fan of his Oakland Raiders. Those left to honor him in memory are his mother and father; his son, Robert D. Baker, Jr. of Kansas City; step-brother, Michael (Courtney) Callahan of Goodyear, Arizona; step-sisters Shawn (John) Hosey of Saddlebrook, New Jersey and Stephanie (Adam) Boyd of Loveland, Colorado; grandmother, Peggy Skersick of Cedar Rapids; great grandmother, Betty Skersick of Blue Ridge, Arizona; aunt, Crystal (Donald) Darling of Salt Lake City, Utah; uncles, Richard (Angela) Skersick, Alan (Shirleen) Skersick and Todd (Donna) Skersick, and Danny Huston, all of Cedar Rapids, Rodney (Aggie) Skersick and Dennis (Melanie) Skersick of Gallop, New Mexico; and his uncles and aunts in Minnesota: David (Karon) Baker, Marsha (David) Lopis, and Marcella Gosh. Robert is also survived by 20 plus cousins. Additional special friends remembering Robert are Sarah (Kyle) Russell of Cedar Rapids, Julie (Jeff) Evans of Robins, and Mike Robinson of Central City. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Skersick, Sr., and his grandfather and grandmother, John and Donna Baker. Also preceding him to Heaven was his step-father Micheal Callahan, Sr.

  1. Robert was a special young man. I loved him unconditionally and I know that it was resipricated to me. We had a lot of laughs, some a little off color. Those that knew him understand. I always got a huge hug when I got to their home and another when I left. ALWAYS. I will miss him so much. I love you Robert rest on peace buddy.
