Rick Wiersema

Ricky 'Rick' Wiersema, 61, of Lisbon, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer. Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, by Pastor Karen Nelson. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; son, Brian; daughters, Holly (Jason) Mullin, Jennifer (Derrick) Gaiser, Lea Wiersema, and Emily Wiersema; five grandchildren; father, Bill; brothers, Steven Wiersema and Kerry (Marge) Wiersema; sisters, Debra (Alan) Christopher and Denise (Gary) Bush; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and dog, Banjo. Rick was born May 14, 1955, to Wilbur 'Bill' and Bonnie (Kent) Wiersema in Morrison, Illinois. He graduated in 1974 from Fulton High School in Illinois, and later moved to Lisbon in 1996. He married Rebecca Wright on August 12, 2000, in Lisbon. Rick was a pipefitter for American Piping Group, and enjoyed entertaining friends and family in his spare time. He was known to host cook outs, pool parties (billiards and swimming), and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. He followed many different sports, and was a White Sox, Bears, Illini, and NASCAR fan. Most importantly, Rick loved spending time with his beloved family, especially his children and grandchildren, always living up to the title of 'Goofy Grandpa'. He was preceded in death by his mother; and nephew Brandon Thompson.

  5. My cousin Rick with his great sense of humor and infectious smile! Remembering him playing the “Secret Agent Man” song as he strummed the guitar…he was one of the “cool” cousins. Lots of treasured childhood memories with Rick and his family. He will be sadly missed and always remembered.

  14. You will be missed Rick. I remember how we would come to Fulton to see Grandpa and Grandma and would come by and see the rest of the family. All of use kids we go behind the house and get into all the tall weeds and stomp them down and just make trails all through it. Why I don’t know but that’s what we would do. I will always have my memories with you and now your their with with the family, give mom a hug and kiss along with everyone else. I love you Rock…rest in peace cuz.
