Richard E. Light 72, of Lisbon, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Visitation, Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. The Funeral Service is Monday, 11:00 a.m., at the Lisbon United Methodist Church. There will be a private family burial in Lisbon Cemetery. Surviving Richard are: his wife Carol; a daughter Lisa (Rawley) Alger of Lisbon; three grandchildren: Matthew, Lucas, and Melissa. Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter Lora and a son-in-law Craig Sproston. He was born January 3, 1942 to Homer and Grace Light and graduated from Lisbon High School. He married Carol Peters on July 27, 1963. Richard retired after thirty-nine years from Towns Edge/Cedar Rapids Toyota. Richard also spent much of his time raising livestock on the family farm. He was very proud of the generations of Lights and Kohls who settled the area. Although often a quiet man, he was very proud of his grandchildren and loved them very much. Richard enjoyed nice cars, good food, and a fine drink. The family would like to thank Dr. Katie Kavanaugh and Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Richard. A memorial fund in Richards honor has been established On-line condolences: www.morganfuneralchoices@gmail.com

We just heard of Richard’s passing and wish to share our condolences with family and friends. Carol, how can we repay you for all the kindnesses you have done for us while Mom’s been in the care center? Your willingness to go out of your way to fix her hair and share your smile and past anecdotes have been truly treasured. We are with you now in thoughts and prayers at this time of loss.
