Phillip Kenneth Olivier, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Funeral Services: 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 1:30 ' 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Teresa Bear, Denise (Raymond) Kirkwood, Phyllis (Stephen) Johnson, and Jason (Shannon) Olivier; grandchildren, Randy, Alex (Brittany), Samantha (Brett), Kendra, David, Jill, Noah, Aquira, Aunika, and Lilliahna; great grandchildren, William, Gunner, Brayden, Charlotte, Benson, Anderson, Lucas, Juliea, and Maverick; sister, Dorothy 'Dot' Autery; brother-in-law, Dick (Nadine) Sojka; and nieces and nephews.
Phil was born on February 4, 1940, in Pine Hill, Alabama, the son of Louis and Eulean Olivier. He served in the United States Army for two years. Phil graduated from The Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston, Texas, in 1959. On March 23, 1963, he married Janet M. Sojka at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Shortly after moving to Cedar Rapids, Phil began a decades long relationship with the Stewart Funeral Home family, eventually receiving his Iowa funeral director license in 1993. Phil worked tirelessly for the funeral profession, caring for generations of families throughout his career. Phil and Janet were longtime owners of not only Stewart Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, but also Baxter Funeral Chapel in Marion.
He was a member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, Cedar Rapids Horseman's Club, Knights of Columbus, and a local labor union. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most importantly was spending time with his family.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; brother, Sonny; and son-in-law, Delmar 'Butch' Bear.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family where they will use the funds to help stock the food pantry at the Oldforf Hospice House.

I remember when I was little you would always take me out to Halloween with grandma and it was so fun I would stop by your house and you would give me candy it was amazing I can’t believe you and grandma are gone I love you even tho he didn’t remember me I should have said goodbye but I didn’t want to see you like that

Phil and my dad John were a hoot when they were together. The stories Phil told my dad were the greatest. Phil always bragged about his big ol pup and absolutely loved him. I know my dad was so happy to see him come through those gates. Phil was a great sweet guy. Prayers to his family ❤
