Phil Puffer

Phillip Lynn "Phil" Puffer, 67, died Sunday, September 5, 2010, in his rural Mechanicsville home, after a long illness. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. The viewing and visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the chapel. Phil's burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Surviving Phil is his wife Jacquelyn (Colton) Puffer, two sons: Wade (Jolyn Loukota) Puffer, and their daughter Jordyn, Marion, Matthew (Jennifer Petsche) Puffer, Des Moines, father Donald Puffer, Mechanicsville, sister-in-law Patricia Fox, Marion, brother-in-law, Donald (Jane Almond) Colton, Benton, Illinois, and brother Steven (Anita) Puffer, Coralville. Phil is also survived by aunts Helen Farrington and Genevieve Platner, both of Mechanicsville, and special friends Edward and Karen Kleppe, and Dennis and Janice Domer. Preceding Phil in death were his son Mark Puffer; mother Edith (Platner) Puffer; sister Jeanette Puffer and sister-in-law Jacqueline (Wilson) Puffer. Phil was born August 30, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donald and Edith Puffer. He graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1961. He married Jackie Colton, September 4, 1966 in Mount Vernon. Phil farmed the Puffer Heritage Farm his entire life. Phil enjoyed hunting, shooting, and fishing, which he shared with his sons. Phil loved spending time with his family.   1. Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you at this time of sadness. Mom and dad have kept me up with everything going on. God bless you for keepimg Phil at home and taking care of him.
