Peggy Helle

Peggy Helle, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully, on January 25, 2019, after a brief illness. Services are private. Arrangements with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. She is survived by her husband, Joseph C. Helle, Jr.; children, Tracie (Steve) Helle Schmelzer, Bradley (Sue) Helle, Brent (Dori) Helle, and Justin (Sarah) Helle; grandchildren, Kohle, Peyton, Jayden, and Brooks Helle; sisters, Betty (Louis) Helle, and Cindy (Doug) Rowland; and brother-in-law, Harlan Harbaugh. Born to Russell and Lucille (Fabert) Tindell on July 24, 1947, Peggy Lee graduated from Garnavillo Community High School with the class of 1965. She obtained her Cosmetology License from the Paris Beauty Academy the following year. On December 26, 1967, she and Joe married at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Peggy loved time with her grandchildren especially watching their sporting events. She enjoyed talking for hours on the phone, seeing movies, playing bingo, shopping, and time spent with her sisters. Family truly was the most important thing in her life. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Russell 'Rusty' Tindell, Patricia Harbaugh, and Jean Ann Strahl; and brother-in-law, Frances 'Abe' Strahl. Memorials may be directed to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
