Paul F. Schwiebert

Paul F. Schwiebert, 66 of 1500 5th Street N.W., Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids from cancer. A Celebration of Paul's Life will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday (6-21-06) at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel by John Klaus. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. A reception will follow at the Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge. Burial in the Mt. Moriah Section of Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Paul is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Hazel at home, children: Paul "Rick" and wife Kim of Mount Vernon, and Christine "Chris" Schwiebert of Cedar Rapids, and two grandchildren: Payton and Jesse Schwiebert of Mount Vernon. Also surviving is a special four-legged friend Kyra. Paul was preceded in death by his parents. Paul was born April 6, 1940 at Cedar Rapids, the only child of Roy Frederick and Mary Ann Herschel Schwiebert. He was a member of the first graduating class at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids in 1958. Paul married his high school sweet heart, Hazel Hanna in May of 1959. Paul was a sergeant with the Mount Vernon Police Department for six years, and retired from Continental Airlines. Paul loved his family, which included those at home and his Masonic family. Paul was a long time member, secretary, and Past Master of Mount Vernon Lodge #112. With Paul's inspiration the Lodge purchased and renovated the new Masonic Temple in Mount Vernon.   3. Hazel and Family, Hearing of the loss of a true friend is like the the loss of a brother. We have enjoyed this friendship for 57 years-since 3rd grade at Johnson. My best fiend and I had many adventures, including just playing together as we grew up, the occasional ride in my Father’s Mercury and our not to be forgetten Senior year. While in our adult life we lived miles apart, this strong friendship lasted. As a Fraternial Brother, he will be missed as he was an influence in my Masonic life. I feel so fortunate to have been able to spend those 3 months out of my life at International Air Academy and getting to know Paul. It is at times like this that we need comfort and support whether we are acquainted or not. May the scriptures at Revelation 21: 1-5 prove to be a source of great comfort for you now and in the days to come. Your dearly beloved one will not be forgotten by you or our Heavenly Father.   7. In searching for family tree information on the Internet, I was saddened to see that Paul has passed away. My sincerest sympathy to you, Hazel, and your dear children. I pray that you receive much comfort from those around you. It is obvious that Paul was a wonderful husband and father and a friend to many. Hazel, you and your family are in my thoughts.
