Naomi Stewart

Naomi L. Fagen Stewart, 86 of Lisbon, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, from a long illness. Services, 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the Linn Grove Presbyterian Church, rural Mount Vernon, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friends may call Sunday, from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Burial 1:30 p.m., Monday at Lisbon Cemetery. Surviving Namoi is a son Dorn (Karen) of Lisbon, a daughter Janet (Larry) Fishwild of Marion; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother Lyle Fagen of Perry; two sisters: Fae Bailey of Minburn, and Wanda Fredin of Welcome, Minnesota. Preceding Namoi in death were her parents, two brothers Phil and Mahlon, and her husband Loren who died October 27, 1999, and an infant sister Leda. Naomi was born May 26, 1918 at Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford R. and Olive Rebecca Dixon Fagen. She graduated from Washington Township High School in 1936 where she played basketball for four years. Naomi married Loren Stewart August 18, 1939 at Jefferson. She moved to the Whittier area in 1941 helping her husband on the farm and raising their family, and moved to the Lisbon area in 1948. She worked at Stoll's Ben Franklin store in Mount Vernon fifteen years, retiring in 1972. She was an active member of Linn Grove Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aide Society, and past member of the Knights of Pythias Sisters in Martelle. Memorials in Naomi's name may be made to the Linn Grove Presbyterian Church 2000 Linn Grove Rd., or the Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance, P. O. Box 125, Mount Vernon, IA 52314.
