Mike Staub

December 24, 1955 ~ November 8, 2021

Michael George Staub, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 8, 2021. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Mike's life from 1 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club, 1735 11th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Patti; daughter, Stephanie (Donald, Jr.) Pinter; grandchildren, Neal Pinter, Logan Pinter, and Donald Pinter III; siblings, Kathy (Rick) Fry, John (Barb) Staub, Dorothy Staub, Rob (Kim) Staub, Patty (Doran) Wilson, and Joe Staub. Mike was born on December 24, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Norman and Betty (Thompson) Staub. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1974. Mike grew up working in the Staub family bowling centers: Lancer Lanes, Castle, and May City. Naturally, he was a great bowler traveling for tournaments across the country. Mike also worked in finance for GreenState Credit Union and Medco Credit Union, sales for McGrath Cadillac, and most recently as a van driver for Cedar Rapids Community Schools. On October 24, 2008, he married Patricia Morehouse in Nashua, Iowa. They just celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. His family and friends will miss his awesome sense of humor and ability to have fun no matter what. Mike loved sports, holding season tickets for Hawkeye football and basketball and the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. He also enjoyed watching his Cubbies play baseball. Whenever he could, he would attend the sports and school events for his grandsons, nieces, and nephews. Without a doubt, Mike's presence will be greatly missed. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; great nephew, Richie Fry; great niece, Alexis Hofland; sister-in-law, Patti Staub; and many aunts and uncles. Memorials may be directed to his wife, Patti and family.

We grew up and went away but were glad to get together at the Ellis Park family reunion. We recently got together for Taco Tuesday. A sudden loss with so much living yet to do. Good bye Cuz. Herky

  3. Worked with Mike at Parsons Technology & used to always see him at CR Kernels games. I am so sad to hear this news. My sympathies to the entire family. I graduated from LaSalle as well; a few years before Mike. The Staub name was well known in the LS community. I’ll miss bumping in to him randomly which happened quite frequently over the years. May God Bless him & hold him in peace forever.

  4. I have known Mike for years, I have known him and the Staub family since I started bowling at Lancer lanes when j was 9 years old, my thoughts and prayers 🙏 go out to all of the Staub family

  5. I am so sorry to hear the loss of Mike. I remember Mike when I bowled a summer league many years ago at Lancer Lanes. I know the whole family bowling many tournaments with Kathy. May he RIP
