Mark Dutro

Mark Lee Dutro, 96, of Lisbon, died Thursday December 29, 2022 at his home. A private committal is planned at a National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted. Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services of Mount Vernon are caring for Mark's family.Mark is survived by his wife, of 72 years, Lucille; son, Mark of Lisbon; grandson, Branden (Laura); two grandchildren, Michael and Kaden, all of West Branch.Mark Lee, the son of Oscar and Daisy Smith Dutro, was born April 13, 1926, in Rose, Kansas. He grew up in Rose where he attended school. Mark served in the U.S. Army at the close of World War II. Stationed in Germany, he spent his enlistment helping with the recovery. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Mark was united in marriage to Lucille Decker, of White City, Kansas, on March 3, 1950, in Topeka. The couple made their home there. Mark and Lucille were blessed with a son, Mark. The paint department at Whelan's Lumber of Topeka, was where Mark worked. He would become the paint department manager, for Whelan's, before retiring from 33 years with the store. Mark and Lucille spent their retirement living in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. New Mexico was their homebase though. Mark was a gifted musician. He played both guitar and fiddle and sang. He is remembered for sharing his talents solo, with a group and with Lucille. Mark thought of himself as a country music star. He performed for the troops while in the Army. He performed with a country music band of his design, 'Sunflower Ramblers'. Fondly, he is remembered singing with Lucille for churches and local gathering. The couple has recently moved to Lisbon, to be close to their son and grandson.He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and three brothers.
