Marilyn Marie Douglas, 89, passed away at St. Luke's Hospice on August 20, 2021, after a brief illness. Marilyn was born February 18, 1932, in Mason City, Iowa, to the late Roland William and Ruby Anne (Nielsen) Strickland. She grew up in Fort Dodge and married Robert Edward Douglas on February 17, 1952. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1960. He passed away in 2004.
Survivors include her four children, Lynn and Ed Mann, Gail and Brion Wenhardt, Kirk and Teresa Douglas, and Lori and Don Fritz; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Stacy and Adam Schulte, Scott Schwab, Melissa and Chad French, Eric Mann and Barry Dmytro, Heather and Brad Bunn, Todd and Whitney Douglas, Tia and Erik Nelson, Troy Douglas and Kristin Carra, and Jessica Fritz and Robert Bruce; 17 great-grandchildren, Tyson, Avery and Reagan Schulte, Jordan and Rylee Schwab, Landon and Brooklyn French, Cassidy, Declan and Ryker McMahill, Hannah and Nolan Bunn, Lyla and Madison Douglas, Annabelle (and brother-to-be) Nelson, Korrey Chesmore and Quinton Lathrop; her brother, Gary Strickland and his wife, Rosemary; nephews and nieces, Laura and Ben Baker, Kathryn Strickland, Larry Dunbar, and Sandi and Dean Lammers; and cousins, Don Green, Trudy Pingel, and Carol Dillon.
She loved her family and was much loved and will be missed greatly.
There will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
