Maria de La Luz Rodriguez, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at ManorCare Health Services, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Reverend Christopher Podhajsky. Visitation: 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, where a Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a Vigil service. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Rodolfo (Cecilia) Rodriguez, Alicia (Adalberto) Torres, Juanita (Everardo) Luna, Reynaldo (Columba) Rodriguez, Rosa Rodriguez, Angelica (Richard) Riha, Juan Cruz (Ana) Rodriguez, Francisco (Maria) Garcia, Rafael (Danielle) Rodriguez; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Maria was born on October 15, 1927, in Sanger, California, the daughter of Miguel and Luz (Ramirez) Valtierra. She married Felipe Rodriguez in Mexico. She retired from working in the cafeteria at Washington High School. Maria was a dedicated fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed crocheting gifts for her family. As a member of Immaculate Conception, she was devout in her faith and sharing blessings with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Felipe; daughter, Bertha Garcia; four infant children; and grandson, Luis Torres.

Hermosa tu abuelita mi Martha hermosa y tuviste la dicha de que dios te la prestara tantos años, no estés triste ya que eya por fin esta descansando en paz es fácil decirlo cuando no lo estás viviendo pero waoo tú lo dijiste es una guerrera que Vivio 92 años y dio lo mejor de ella a recordar tantos momentos hermosos que te dio y a darle gracias a dios por el tiempo que la dejo con todos ustedes fue una señora hermosa amorosa y linda en toda la extensión de la palabra siempre vivirá en nuestros corazones hoy brilla una estrella más en el cielo, les mando mis condolencias y mi más sentido pésame para la familia Rodriguez te quiero mi chula 😘 que dios les mande la fortaleza para soportar este dolor.
