Margaret Kathyleen Mulherin Jackson, 85 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, in Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, from a brief illness. Funeral services for Margaret will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m., Saturday. Burial 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Visitation will be at the Morgan Funeral Home in Mount Vernon from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2008. She was born November 29, 1922 in Fairfax, Iowa. She married Mearle L. Jackson on February 24, 1942. The couple farmed all of the lives in the Mechanicsville and Morley area. Mrs. Jackson was active for many years as a 4-H leader, St. Mary's Guild and the U-Go-I-Go Club. She enjoyed her years on the farm, traveling, practicing her faith, and especially her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville until relocating to Cedar Rapids where she was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Mrs. Jackson is survived by children, John (Karen) Jackson, of Tampa, Florida; Larry (Deb) Jackson, Cedar Falls; Janet (Brad) Petersen, Mechanicsville; and Donna (Shawn) Spooner, Cedar Rapids; 8-grandchildren: Teresa (Tom) Fields, Cedar Rapids; Barry (Tracey) Jackson, Tampa; Brent Jackson, Sioux City; Brice (Julie) Jackson, Vail, Colorado; David Petersen, Cedar Rapids; Mark (Melanie) Jackson, North Liberty; Kristen (Joe) Wilford, Swisher; and Keely (Matt) Pearson, Ankeny; 9 great-grandchildren, Kortnee (David) Van Valkenburgh, Tampa; Kaycee Holley, Cedar Rapids; Zachary and Matthew Jackson, Tampa, Stella and Owen Jackson, Vail; Kourtney Kepler, Swisher; Mayah Petersen, Cedar Rapids; and Trevor Petersen, North Liberty; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Hailee Van Valkenburgh, Tampa; sister, Eileen (John) Hannah, Mechanicsville; and many adored nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Mulherin; brother, John Thomas Mulherin; brother Charles (Verna) Mulherin; and sister Rita (John) Butler.
