Marcie was my Diabetes educator and consultant the whole time she was working in that capacity. She was a delightful person. I held her in high regard and was extremely grateful for all her help. She was a teacher at heart and did a good job of training me to manage my diabetes. I celebrate the life of a good person and proudly call her my friend. W. C. Jacobson Retired School administrator.
To Marcie’s family: Marcie and I shared many memories through our years of Diabetes Education with Iowa Health System together. Marcie added the “spice” to our meetings and her unending enthusiasm. She invited the entire team to her home and we will always cherish her contributions to our profession. Please know my thoughts are with you and heaven has a very “special” person watching over us.
Marcie was our hcp trainer for patients with osteoporosis. I would often hear how passionate she was and how much the patients enjoyed her and learned from her. She has touched so many through the years. I was also able to get to know her well and so enjoyed her smile and all our conversations. She will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.
She was surely a loved and lucky lady to have such wonderful people care for her, a legacy to be proud of. Keep those memories close, they will one day again bring smiles to your face and warm memories to your hearts.
I knew Marcie from our time together at St. Luke’s School of Nursing and our lives crossed paths many times in the years that followed. I enjoyed visiting with her and she always had a lot to say! Of special interest for me was her musical talents. She wrote the music to what became the ‘official’ song of the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. I especially enjoyed hearing her play piano at a class reunion, and at several Christmas parties at the hospital. Another time at a conference in Des Moines she obliged me by playing a piano nearby. The most memorable to me was a time she turned and asked attendees “Do you like boogie?” And then she ‘hit it’. She was so talented and intelligent. I know she was a positive influence in countless lives. I am so sorry she is gone and extend my sympathy to her family.
Reggie & family, Marcie was such an amazing spirit with effervescent energy. The thing of it is, is that she will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you. ~Anna Patty
I was shocked and saddened to learn of Marcie’s passing. Just today her LinkedIn profile had encouraged me to link up! I became acquainted with Marcie when she was president of AADE and I was Director of Professional Relations for Novo Nordisk. Marcie was the genuine article and such a pleasure to know. I’m greatful to have shared a little bit of her valuable time here and can’t imagine how much she will be missed by those who knew and loved her well. My sincere condolences.
I was fortunate to attend several sessions Marcie did at AADE. She was outstanding and inspirational. I got to talk with her briefly, she was an amazing woman. My heart goes out to her mother Regina; it was so nice seeing both of you at AADE. My thoughts and prayers are with all who will miss Marcie dearly.
