Mary 'Arlene' Grobstich, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, October 6, 2013, at home following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Philip Thompson. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Interment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arlene was born February 1, 1927, to Clare and Mary Hayes in Cottonville, Iowa. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in LaMotte before moving to Dubuque, Iowa. Arlene married LeRoy G. Grobstich on April 18, 1949, together they had six children and enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Arlene was employed by Mercy Medical Center, Von Maur, and Kohl's in Cedar Rapids. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the St. Pius Golden Agers. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Richard) Hill of Hagerstown, Maryland, Pam (Ronald) Lane of Marion, Iowa, and Debra Grobstich of Cedar Rapids; her sons, Roger Grobstich of Hiawatha, and David Grobstich of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Marvin (Doris) Hayes of Murietta, California, and Eldon (Winnie) Hayes of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and a sister, Dorothy Kramer of Dubuque. In addition Arlene is also survived by her grandchildren, Timothy (Carli) Hofferber, Tami (Courtenay) Moon, Tara (Aaron) Rawlings, Craig (Jenny) Grobstich, Matt (Ashley) Grobstich, Michelle (Greg) Greene, Jamison (Amanda) Lane, Anne (Michael) Erps, Tony Grobstich, Zachary Grobstich, Jason Grobstich, Christa Grobstich, and Elizabeth Grobstich; great grandchildren, Sydney, Naomi, Issac, Miles, Harper, Jordan, Olivia, Rebecca, Paige, Kelly, Kael, and Reese; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also special friends, Laurie (Mike) Lindeman; George Hofferber, Betty VanFossen. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Anthony 'Rick' Grobstich Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Angie Grobstich. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Pius X Catholic Church or Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha.
