Linda Ann Jordan, born on April 21, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, died on September 26, 2015, from complications of pneumonia. At the time of death, she was surrounded by her loving family. Linda earned a double-degree, English and Spanish, from Albion College and then a Master's Degree in Spanish from the University of Michigan. At Albion she met Truman Jordan and they happily married in 1961. They moved to Mount Vernon in August of 1966. Linda enjoyed church, sports, reading, writing (letters and cards), and singing in the choir. She lived a life of service, working in the church kitchen, leading both the United Methodist Women and League of Women Voters, and attending Methodist Annual Conference. Linda spread love and kindness to her friends and family. She was deeply proud of her three daughters and treasured her time with them and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and LaNelle Wilcox, and her siblings, Leonella, Leonard Jr., and Nancy. She is survived by her loyal husband, Truman, as well as her daughters, Jenny Jordan (Eric Wood), Jackie Morrical (Andy), Joy Jordan (Mark Johnson); and her grandchildren, Emma and Sam Jordan-Wood, and Matt and Mandy Morrical. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon or Jubilee Partners (www.jubileepartners.org), an organization Linda admired and supported for their helpful work with refugees. The family extends thanks and gratitude to the staff of Hallmark for their loving care of Linda the last few years. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Jenny, Jackie, Joy and Truman…thoughts and prayers are with you. Growing up in MV, she made me feel as if her home was my home. A beautiful soul.

  2. Dear Jordan’s
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Linda was such a sweet soft spoken lady, always with a gentle voice. I enjoyed our little visits when I would see her. And her cute laugh will never be forgotten.
Hold those precious memories of her close to your hearts.
    With sympathy,
    Annamae Baker

  3. Jenny, Jackie, Joy, and Truman, I’m very sorry for your loss. I remember Linda being one of the people at the core of our Methodist Church community in Mt. Vernon. I admire her life of service. With deepest sympathy, John Gaston.

  4. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. She has made it to her final home and rid of her earthly body pains and waits patiently for each of you to join her in her new home, with Christ and his disciples/prophets by her side. God bless us as we wait for that reunion and cherish the many great memories she left with each of us.

  5. I will always remember one of the first people I met when I started working at United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon was Linda Jordan. Smiling, walking down the hall, she was a positive force that day. It wasn’t shortly after that she stated falling, but I still remember her that day. Sending love to Truman, Jackie, Mandy and your entire family. Hugs and know your tears will be hugs you send to Linda in heaven.
