She met Steve in Ames the summer of 1971 and they were married on November 27, 1971. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1974. They started a family in 1975 and moved to the Lisbon area in 1980. Lee provided child care until Scott started school in 1987. She then worked on getting her teaching certificate renewed. She started substitute teaching and taught at many of the schools in the Cedar Rapids area. She retired from Harding Middle School in Cedar Rapids in June 2011. Lee was active in bowling, golfing, homemaking, and having fun. She once scored a double eagle on hole 4 at the former Hillcrest Country Club (Kernoustie). She also participated in the Women's EIGA events and served on the women's golf board. Guestbook

  1. Lee and I were paired up to teach some curriculum lessons to sixth graders at Harding. She was a great partner and was willing to do anything. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. My sympathies to the family.

  2. When I was assigned to teach Computer Science I was terrified and didn’t know how to do all the little details in the many projects. Lee sat right beside me and walked me through each project, with patience, humor, and kindness. I knew I could go to her with any question and she’d guide me through. I know how much she looked forward to retirement and time with her loved ones, and to play golf. Lee and her family have been in my prayers; my condolences to all who loved her. Maggie Schuyler

  3. I did a lot of substitute teaching for Lee at Harding Middle School in Cedar Rapids and also worked beside her when I taught for the other Home Economics teacher. She was a great person. I am coming on Monday to greet the family and show my respects. Val Wolter, former Family and Consumer Science teacher at Linn-Mar school.

  4. I always enjoyed running into Lee……always had a smile and a funny story. I have gotten to know the Rose family through golf, cards and by them being loyal customers. God bless them, and our prayers are with Lee and the entire Rose family.

    Jon and Peggy Barnes

  5. Lee was my sister and a wonderful woman. She never forgot my birthday and for my 40th sent me a cross sticky she had done that said. Lordy lordy Karel turned 40! There is not a day that goes by I don’t miss her.
