La Donna Fay Rich, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Heritage Specialty Care, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life will be held 4-8:00 p.m., March 8, 2025, at Fat Fawlly's, 420 2nd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, 52401. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
La Donna was born on June 23, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Kenneth Rich and Martha (Schrader) Stepanek.
La Donna graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Child Psychology. She served as a former Cedar Rapids Police Officer and taught at Taylor and Wilson Schools. She owned and operated Rufus McCooter's for 23 years. During that time, she sponsored and participated in many softball, volleyball, and billiards league events. La Donna was loved by many, had many friends, and was known as the Cedar Rapids Icon.
La Donna is survived by her brother, Austin Rich, brother-in-law, Robert Novak; nieces & nephews, April, Danielle, Austina, Brittney, Skye, Kenneth, Robert D. II, and Austin; great-nieces & nephews, Nicholas, Quintin, Nyleigha, and many more; and her dog Rufus McCooter.
La Donna was preceded in death by her parents and sister Joan Novak.
