Kimberly Jo Chavez was born May 9, 1979, to Donna (Trumpold) and Fred Chavez Jr. in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Metro High School and Kirkwood Community College. Kim worked in customer service, most recently for DoorDash, which she readily enjoyed. She was a free spirit and overall goofball, which her family adored her for. Kim could be found singing and dancing, especially to Mariah Carey, reading and writing poetry, but most likely watching her favorite cop shows on TV. She loved the lights and fun of casinos, where she enjoyed playing 'the buffalos'. Kim liked any lemon dessert and feasting on crab legs at Red Lobster. She was a loyal friend to all, including her animals. The most important aspect of her life was her daughter, Raemi, who was the light of Kim's life.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John & Doris Trumpold and Pat and Fred Chavez Sr.; and uncle, Dan Chavez.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be given to Raemi for her current and future ambitions.

Donna, my heart is broken for your family! We know your pain, as we have lost a son. It is always sad when our circle of family and friends is shorter.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May God bless you during this difficult time..
You never knew sometimes what was going to come out of her mouth. She was such a great person, friend, coworker. She was a very caring person and I loved that she said what was on her mind. She never questioned herself. I will miss you. My condolences to her family at this time. I know she made you guys laugh a lot. She sure did with us that had the joys of working or being around her.
I remember years ago, working with Kim, when she told my brother Randy about her beautiful sister Cami, playing matchmaker to a great love story! And I remember her sweetly telling me she set her sis up with my brother. That’s an indicator of how much she cared for others. My heart and prayers go out to Kim’s family and friends for their deep loss.
Please accept our deepest sympathies.
Rick and Raemi My condolences to you both. What a terrible loss this is. I am so saddened but will forever remember what a fun, loving and caring woman Kim was. Raemi please let Mikalah or myself know if you need anything! I am so proud of the young woman you have become!! Prayers to you and your family. Denise Applegate
Kim was my best friend growing up and I can’t believe that she’s gone. this is crazy. She is too young . I feel like I haven’t seen her in so long and it’s just sad that I have to hear about her loss from another friend that we grew up with. My condolences go to her daughter and all of the rest of her family . Kim and I used make up dances to songs when we were younger and I remember we use to choreograph everything!! Kim Dara and I hung out a lot as a child and I was really close to Kim. I’m going to miss her and I know that she’s in a better place now . Love you Kim forever Love Jessie
You will be greatly missed! My greatest memory is of us making up choreography to songs and dancing like new kids on the block etc I love you Kim 😘 You were my child hood friend all through school and I know we veered apart as adults and grew up into our own families but I will always love you ❤️
RIP old friend my condolences to the family
I went to High School with Kim, her smile is the thing I remember the most. It was so long ago it feels like looking through a frosted window with only a bright smile clearly viable.. like a candle in the gloom..
