Kermit Wallick, 68, of rural Mechanicsville, conceded his hard-fought battle with cancer in the early hours of December 15, 2020. Per his wishes, Kermit will be cremated and there will be no service. His family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, is caring for Kermit and his family.
Kermit was born September 11, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Orin Junior and Barbara (Ferguson) Wallick. He spent his younger years in Iowa and Illinois, finally settling in his dream home in rural Cedar County 35 years ago. Besides his family, Kermit's great loves were hunting, outdoor activities, and all things mechanical and automotive. He was a very adept handyman and a perfectionist. Kermit lived a good life on his own terms.
He leaves behind to forever miss him his wife of 40 years, Kay; four daughters, Jenny (Steve) Dixon, Nicole (Mike) Mack, Stacey (Mark) Iburg, Wendy (Shane) Bryant; son, Mike LeGrand; sisters, Claudia Wallick, Elisa Wallick, and Christine (Glen) Weber; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and various extended family members and friends.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter; and three grandchildren.
The family would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice for their kindness and guidance through this difficult journey.
Forever in our memories, forever in our hearts, forever family. Rest now, dear brother. ❤️
He will be missed by all who knew him
I met him long ago, we hung out a few times (became friends?). I remember arm wrestling. He was a nice and fun guy back then. I lost track of him but am sure he remained that same nice and fun guy. Rest piecefully my friend.
Christine and Glen, I’m so sorry for your loss. I loved seeing the picture of your folks and you kids. Your parents were so special and I loved when I would see them at the store. Your brother sounds like he was quite a guy, my sympathy. Annamae Baker
Thank you, Annamae, for the kind words. And may I say, you have an amazing memory!
Planted in loving memory. Three sisters, three trees.
