September 2, 1942 ~ October 28, 2017

Sharon Kaye Briesemeister, 75, of Fairfax died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the University of Iowa with her family present, after a brief illness. Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2017, at Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids; with Visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial: Grandview Cemetery, Fayette, Iowa following services. Arrangements with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Kaye, as she was better known, was born in Oelwein, Iowa to Edward and Corrine (Cutshall) Campbell, and raised in Fayette, Iowa. Upon graduating from Fayette High School in 1960, she attended Waterloo Business College and became an executive secretary working at Upper Iowa University. She married Gary Briesemeister on June 16, 1962, and together they had three children. Kaye worked as an executive secretary until her first child was born, and then devoted her life to her children for several years. As they grew up, she returned to her occupation for several different employers for a number of years. Kaye then devoted her life to her husband and grandchildren. She loved playing the piano, playing Bridge, camping, going to Texas for the warm weather to escape the cold Iowa winters, and antiques. She will be sorely missed by her family. She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Brian (Lisa) Briesemeister, Loreen (Jim) VanHook, and Eric (LeAnn) Briesemeister; grandchildren, Terry, Sarah, Brian, Jr., Aaron, Kyle, Emily, Michael, Josef, and Alex; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Ben, and Campbell; brother, Steven (Cindy) Campbell; sister, Janet Campbell; and sister-in-law, Mary Janice Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Gary Campbell. A very special thank you to St. Luke's Emergency staff and UIHC Palliative Care Unit for outstanding care and help.
