Each Spring, she planted and nurtured a beautiful flower garden and loved sharing its beauty with many visitors. She was also known for her Kolache baking skills and was especially proud of her Czech heritage. Kathryn passed on her passion for animals (especially horses), flowers, music, and painting to her grandchildren. Kathryn was a lifetime member of the Women's Franklin Township Friendship Club, an active parishioner of the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, a member of the Solon Garden Club, and past board member of the Saints Peter and Paul Historical Society. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I have so many wonderful memories of Kathryn and hours spent on the farm with Mary Ellen’s family. There was always something delicious cooking in the oven. Her warm personality made anyone feel right at home. I like to think that I carry a little bit of that Henik farm life with me to this day. May she Rest In Peace. My deepest condolences, Kiki

  2. Dear Roland, I was formerly married to your cousin Barb Nagel and I clearly remember being at your home or Slach family reunions and what a very kind and fun-loving person Kathryn was. I wish you peace. Lin Kemp, Cedar Rapids

  3. American Legion Post 480 of Mt. Vernon wished to extend our sympathies to the Henik family, especially to her beloved husband and our long time post member, Roland. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and the community.

  4. Roland and family, I’m so very sorry for your loss. I always thought Kathryn was such a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile and personality to match. With sympathy, Annamae Baker
