Karen Christensen

Karen Lynn Christensen, 57, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion. Survivors include her husband, Max; children, Shana Christensen (fianc��, Josh Staskal) and Kye Christensen (fianc��, Ashley Walton), two grandchildren, Lydia and Peyton; siblings, Kathy (Jim) Capes, Kevin (Trina) Herren, and Kent (Shelley) Herren; mother-in-law, Helen Christensen; and her faithful canine companion, Cooper. Karen was born September 29, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Melvin and Maxine Herren. She graduated from Marion High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. On August 23, 1986, she married Max Christensen. Karen worked at MCI, McLeod and lastly at Rockwell Collins. She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts, love of reading, caring for her garden and flowers, and her expert Candy Crush skills. She and Max loved taking day and weekend trips in their Miata, visiting fun places and making memories. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials can be directed to the family.

  5. Max and family, I was so shocked when dad came out to my house to tell me that Karen had passed. We sat at the table and told stories and shared some great memories. Remember every time you embrace another memory of Karen you are keeping her living in your heart. The heart never forgets. God bless you all.
