Joshua “Josh” Lohrer, 50, of Stanwood, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his residence surrounded by family. Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Thirsty on 30, Stanwood. The family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Josh was born on July 9, 1975, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard and Connie Lohrer. Josh was a very talented man who enjoyed working with his hands. He loved tinkering with vehicles, woodworking, welding, grilling, mud running, and doing burnouts. He also built and collected model cars and could often be found sitting by a fire while enjoying a cold drink. Josh and Shaun hosted Fourth of July parties where they invited family and friends to celebrate, complete with a fireworks show that was often better than the town’s own celebration.
Josh was loved by everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it.
Josh is survived by his mother, Connie (Bill Graesser) Greene; father, Richard (Mary) Lohrer; children, Tyler Lohrer, Tempest (Andreas Byrne) Lohrer, Charity Lohrer, and Takoda Lohrer; siblings, Shaun Greene, Ashley Rouse, and Cameron Lohrer; and special friend, Judy Birely.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and four-legged best friend, Catalina.

In good Josh fashion, “Happy Thoughts”.

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother and your son. He was a great kid. I loved talking with him back in the day at the angle. You have my deepest sympathies.
My most sincere condolences to all of you for the loss of Josh! I’ll always remember the first time I met Josh at that Shellsburg Elementary Christmas Program… and then to formally meet him right there in front of his confused Mom who new nothing of our previous meeting. LOL So many times Josh & Shaun would show up (I’m sure with Connie’s insistence😉) to help me out with moving, doing trees or whatever. They always were willing and showed me the most utmost respect.
My Love & Many Hugs to You All😔
